The Del Mar fridge is the rounded 1950s shape in nine colors named for the San Diego coast. And we sell it, deliver it and stand behind it ourselves, with five years of repair in your home.
Most people choose a retro fridge for the way it looks, and that's a good reason. But at this price, the color is only half of what you're paying for. And the other half is what's underneath the color, which means who built the fridge, who repairs the fridge if it breaks down, and how it gets into your kitchen.
The Del Mar fridge is our own brand, so we can answer all three questions in writing. It's designed in Del Mar, San Diego, and built to our specification by a specialist refrigeration factory in Guangdong, China. Then we sell it, deliver it and warrant it ourselves, with five years of parts and labor, repaired in your home.
You'd like the retro shape in a color for a household of one or two people, a second kitchen, a guest house, a bar or a studio, and you want someone to come and fix the fridge at home if it breaks down.

The Del Mar fridge holds 9.9 cubic feet, in the classic single-door layout with a freezer box inside. That's 260 liters of fridge and a 21-liter freezer box, behind one rounded door. And the fridge is 24 inches wide, 24.4 deep and 60.3 tall, so it fits the standard 24-inch gap most kitchens leave for a dishwasher or a slim fridge.
The Del Mar fridge cools without a fan, the way the originals did, and you set it with a mechanical dial. So there's no screen to fail and nothing to update. And the factory's own version of this single door is rated at 39 decibels, with the fridge running from 30 to 52 °F and the freezer box from 5 to -13 °F.
Inside the Del Mar fridge there are five shelves, plus four more shelves in the door, an antibacterial liner and an LED light. As for the outside, the cabinet is one piece of metal, and the door hangs on 304 stainless steel hinges. And the handle is metal too, because owners of budget retro fridges complain about plastic handles again and again.
The Del Mar fridge runs on R600a, the modern low-impact refrigerant. It's ETL Listed to the US safety standard for household refrigerators, and it plugs into a standard North American outlet.
What the Del Mar fridge doesn't do
The Del Mar fridge is the classic single-door size, so it isn't a family fridge. That size, 9.9 cubic feet, is right for one or two people, a second kitchen, a guest house, a bar or a studio. But a family of five doing one big shop a week should buy a full-size fridge, and we'd say the same on the phone.
The Del Mar fridge has no ice maker, no water line, no dispenser in the door and no app. And because the fridge cools without a fan, the freezer box needs defrosting by hand once in a while, the way the originals did.
The Del Mar fridge also takes time to arrive. It ships in 8 to 10 weeks from our California warehouse, so if you need a fridge this week, buy one that's already in a retailer's stock. And for now, three of the nine colors take orders, while the other six colors are coming soon.

We sell the Del Mar fridge ourselves, and you can cancel any time before it ships for a full refund, for any reason. And delivery is free anywhere in the lower 48 states, ending in your kitchen, not at the curb. That means the crew carries the fridge to the room you choose, unboxes it, levels it and plugs it in, then takes the packaging away, and your old fridge with it if you want it gone.
Because the crew unpacks the Del Mar fridge in your kitchen, you see it before they leave. So if it arrives damaged, faulty or not what you ordered, photograph it and tell us within 48 hours of delivery, and it's replaced or refunded in full, with no fees. And after delivery you also have 30 days to return it in the original packaging, and we cover the collection.
After that, the Del Mar fridge has five years of parts and labor, repaired in your home, with one number to call, in San Diego. That cover is in the price, not a plan sold to you at the checkout.
Who makes the Del Mar fridge
Del Mar Appliance Co. is Colorful Brands' own brand, and the Del Mar fridge is sold only here. It's named for Del Mar, the beach town just north of San Diego where it was designed. Then a specialist refrigeration factory in Guangdong, China, builds it to our specification, the same plant that builds beverage fridges for Coca-Cola, Heineken and Pepsi, and it comes by container to our California warehouse.
We name the country and the kind of factory behind the Del Mar fridge on every page, because most retro fridges won't say where they're built. And some of them are another maker's fridge with a paint job and a new badge. But the Del Mar fridge is built as a retro fridge in the first place, not a standard fridge with new doors. And there's no recall on record for the Del Mar fridge at the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, because it's a new fridge, on sale from September 2026 (checked September 2026).
