Who makes it, and what to know
Bertazzoni is an Italian family company that has made cooking equipment since 1882; it says its ranges are designed, engineered and made in Italy, at its own factory in Guastalla. Bertazzoni's warranty is two years, parts and labor, and four years if you register the appliance; complaints about oven temperature are covered for only the first 180 days. Bertazzoni makes it to order and says it ships in about 12 weeks. Induction heats the pan itself, so pans must be magnetic, and it needs a 240-volt, 40-amp circuit. Each zone is set with a knob, with a read-out on the glass. You buy from Abt Electronics, a family-owned appliance and electronics store in Glenview, Illinois, open since 1936. Abt handles delivery and returns: most items go back within 30 days in their original packaging, and Abt may charge the return shipping. The warranty is Bertazzoni's.

“We have been using this range for around 4 months and it has been problem free. Love the precise control of both the cooktop and the oven. Boils water fast! We will not be going back to basic electric or gas - this is a game changer.”

“bought this expensive bit of trash three years ago. within the first couple months the oven glass exploded. then the digital controller and internal thermometer stopped working. it became stuck on digital probe mode. glass was replaced. heat warped. replaced. and then exploded one more. all while still being stuck in food probe mode and not turning on 50% of the time. for some people, this is an expensive purchase. for some people, buying in oven is a big deal and they expect it to last. but at the very least they expect it to work consistently for a few years. the cost makes one think it would. Bertazzoni has done the minimum to solve this. and now they are saying the new glass (third replacement we’ve needed) is out of warranty. all this issue with exploding glass has also warped and compromised the door itself. in short, this range is a lemon. and Bertazzoni doesn’t stand behind their product. yeah, sometimes Italian stuff is high end, world class designed stuff. but sometimes it’s the Bertazzoni induction range. and it’s good looking garbage.”
