The KitchenAid Artisan Mini: fewer colors than the Artisan, but the same Empire Red
The KitchenAid Artisan Mini is the tilt-head KitchenAid mixer, scaled down to a 3.5-quart bowl for a small kitchen. And the Artisan Mini comes in four colors we link, including two reds.

The KitchenAid Artisan Mini is for the kitchen where a full-size stand mixer would take too much of the counter. So the Mini keeps the tilt-head shape of the KitchenAid Artisan in a body that's 7.8 inches wide and 12.3 inches tall, where the Artisan is 8.7 inches wide and 13.9 inches tall. And with four colors to choose from, the choice comes down to what the mixer will sit beside.
You bake one cake or one batch of cookies at a time, for a small household, and your kitchen counter has little room to spare.
You bake big batches of bread dough, or you'd like KitchenAid's ice cream maker attachment, which doesn't fit the Mini.
One year, limited, from KitchenAid. KitchenAid chooses whether to replace or repair the mixer.

What the KitchenAid Artisan Mini does
The KitchenAid Artisan Mini holds 3.5 quarts, against the full Artisan's 5 quarts, and runs at 250 watts, against the Artisan's 325 watts. And the head tilts back like the Artisan's, so you lift the beater out of the bowl to add ingredients. Also, the Mini comes with a whip, a coated dough hook and a flex-edge beater, which is a beater the full Artisan doesn't include in its box.
KitchenAid says every attachment that goes into the power hub (the socket on the front of the mixer's head) fits every KitchenAid stand mixer, whatever its age. But KitchenAid names two exceptions for the Mini. Those are the ice cream maker and the precise heat mixing bowl, which don't fit because their bowls are too large for the Mini's base.
The KitchenAid Artisan Mini is 7.8 inches wide, 12.3 inches tall and 12.3 inches deep. So owners write about fitting the Mini under their cabinets, or onto a counter with little room left.
What the KitchenAid Artisan Mini doesn't do
The KitchenAid Artisan Mini isn't built for big batches of bread. Because the bowl holds 3.5 quarts, one owner found a roll recipe with four cups of flour climbed the dough hook, and halved the recipe instead.
The KitchenAid Artisan Mini also comes without a pouring shield (the clear guard that stops flour flying out of the bowl). And one owner who looked for one found no pouring shield made for the Mini, and few extra bowls or beaters either.
The KitchenAid Artisan Mini's weight divides owners. One owner keeps the Mini on a top shelf and lifts it down with arthritic arms, while another owner's wife found it very heavy to move on the counter. So if the Mini will live in a cabinet, choose a low shelf you can slide the mixer onto.
What owners say about the KitchenAid Artisan Mini
On Amazon, the KitchenAid Artisan Mini scores 4.8 out of 5 from 3,836 ratings, across the colors we link (September 2026). And owners write most about the size, for a small kitchen or a household of one or two people.
"I’m usually only cooking for myself these days. It’s perfect for my needs."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, August 2026, in white
"It fits perfectly underneath my cabinets and looks great, too. It’s quiet and easy to use."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, January 2026, in white
"Love this mini! Had kitchen remodeled and this fits perfectly on my counter."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, July 2026, in Empire Red
But owners of the KitchenAid Artisan Mini have complaints too, about big batches, the weight and the finish.
"Made a yeast roll recipe that called for 4 cups of flour, and it just rode up the dough hook instead of mixing around in the bottom. I will halve the recipe in order to make it in this mixer."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, December 2023, in Empire Red
"And as a small woman, this mixer was hard for her to move on the counter. It is VERY heavy."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, September 2026, in Empire Red
"This is a decent little mixer, but it just looks and feels cheap."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, October 2022, in Empire Red
The KitchenAid Artisan Mini's colors, and which color goes with what
The KitchenAid Artisan Mini comes in four colors we link, and Amazon sells all four colors. And two colors are reds, Empire Red and Candy Apple Red, while the other colors are white and black. So the color you choose depends on what's already in the kitchen.
| Artisan Mini color | What it goes with |
|---|---|
| Empire Red | KitchenAid's kettle and toaster in Empire Red, and the full-size Artisan in Empire Red |
| Candy Apple Red | A kitchen where the mixer is the one red piece on the counter |
| White | A kitchen whose color is already on the fridge or the range |
| Black | KitchenAid's kettle and toaster in black |
Empire Red is the KitchenAid red that carries across the most pieces. Because KitchenAid makes its kettle, its two-slice toaster and the full-size Artisan in Empire Red, a Mini in Empire Red can match all three KitchenAid pieces. But KitchenAid's kettle and toaster don't come in Candy Apple Red, so Candy Apple Red suits a counter where the mixer is the only red.

White and black are the colors for a kitchen that already has its color somewhere else. Because our guide's rule for a colorful kitchen is one color plus cream, white or black, a white or black Mini lets a colored fridge or range stay the color you remember.
Amazon's returns follow the seller on each listing. And whichever seller you choose, the warranty is KitchenAid's, starting on the delivery date when the mixer is delivered.
Who makes the KitchenAid Artisan Mini
KitchenAid is a Whirlpool Corporation brand. And there's no recall on record for the KitchenAid Artisan Mini, or for any KitchenAid stand mixer, at the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (checked September 2026).
Before you buy the KitchenAid Artisan Mini
- Batch size: if you bake bread in big batches, choose the full-size KitchenAid Artisan.
- Attachments: if you'd like the KitchenAid ice cream maker, choose the full-size Artisan, because the ice cream maker doesn't fit the Mini.
- Color: if you're matching a KitchenAid kettle or toaster, choose Empire Red, not Candy Apple Red.
- Storage: if the Mini will live in a kitchen cabinet, check you can lift it, because owners disagree on the weight.
