Stand mixers
The KitchenAid Artisan stand mixer, whose attachments fit every KitchenAid mixer, old or new
The KitchenAid Artisan is the tilt-head mixer owners remember from their mother's kitchen, in eight colors we link. And KitchenAid says the attachments that plug into its front fit every KitchenAid stand mixer, whatever its age.

Many owners of the KitchenAid Artisan write about a KitchenAid they grew up with, on a mother's counter. So the KitchenAid Artisan is a mixer people choose partly for the memory, and the memory is a good reason to choose a mixer. Then the color is the part you get to decide, with eight colors we link and more on KitchenAid's own store.
You bake most weeks, you'd like a KitchenAid mixer that lives on the counter, and you'd like to add KitchenAid attachments later, such as a pasta maker.
You bake for one or two people in a small kitchen. The KitchenAid Artisan Mini holds 3.5 quarts and takes less room.
KitchenAid's limited warranty. KitchenAid's product page for the Artisan doesn't say how many years it lasts.

What the KitchenAid Artisan does
The KitchenAid Artisan mixes in a 5-quart bowl, with a 325-watt motor and ten speeds. And the head tilts back, so you can lift the beater out of the bowl to add flour or scrape down the sides. And the KitchenAid Artisan comes with a flat beater, a dough hook, a six-wire whip and a pouring shield, which cover batter, whipped cream and bread dough.
KitchenAid's attachments are the other reason people choose the Artisan. Because KitchenAid says every attachment that goes into the power hub (the socket on the front of the mixer's head) fits every KitchenAid stand mixer, whatever its age, an attachment bought for an old KitchenAid works on a new KitchenAid. One owner lists the pasta maker, slicers, food processors, meat slicers and grain mills, all sold separately.
The KitchenAid Artisan is 8.7 inches wide, 13.9 inches tall and 14.1 inches deep. So measure under your cabinets before you choose a spot, because the head tilts back and needs room above it.
What the KitchenAid Artisan doesn't do
The KitchenAid Artisan isn't light, and owners say so more than anything else. So it's a mixer to keep out on the counter, not one to lift in and out of a low cabinet every time you bake. One owner suggests a permanent spot on the counter or a kitchen cart for anyone who has trouble lifting things.
The KitchenAid Artisan's warranty is the other gap. Because KitchenAid's product page for the Artisan shows a limited warranty but doesn't say how long it lasts, and links no warranty document, we can't tell you how many years the warranty covers. And we'd rather say that than guess.
The KitchenAid Artisan is also more mixer than some kitchens need. So if you bake one cake or one batch of cookies at a time, the Artisan Mini does the same job in a smaller body.
What owners say about the KitchenAid Artisan
On Amazon, the KitchenAid Artisan scores 4.7 out of 5 from 23,164 ratings, across the colors we link (September 2026). And some of the owners write about a KitchenAid their mother had, and how long it lasted.
"My Mom got hers when I was 8 years old. I'm 63 and my sister has it now since my Mom passed away."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, June 2026, in Ink Blue
The 55-year-old KitchenAid in that quote is the owner's mother's mixer, not the new Artisan she bought as a wedding gift.
"I bought this so my 86-year-old mother and I could bake together again, just like when she baked for me as a child and let me help."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, June 2026, in Dried Rose
But owners of the KitchenAid Artisan have complaints too, and they're about the weight and the missing manual.
"Other than it being a bit heavy to move, I think it's great!"
Amazon customer, verified purchase, September 2026, in Ink Blue
"There’s no hard copy user manual in the box! My food processors and my refurbished hand mixer all came with a manual."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, August 2026, in matte black
The owner without a printed manual downloaded the KitchenAid manual from KitchenAid's website, after registering the mixer there.
The KitchenAid Artisan's colors, and where to buy each color
We link eight KitchenAid Artisan colors, and Amazon sells all eight colors. So the Artisan's six colors that aren't neutrals are Empire Red, Dried Rose, Pistachio, Matcha, Mineral Water Blue and Blue Velvet. And white and black are there for a kitchen that already has its color somewhere else.

KitchenAid's own store carries more colors than we link, including Spearmint, KitchenAid's 2026 Color of the Year. So if you've seen a KitchenAid color that isn't here, it's sold on KitchenAid's store, not through us.
Amazon's returns follow the seller on each listing. And whichever seller you choose, the warranty is KitchenAid's.
Who makes the KitchenAid Artisan
KitchenAid is a Whirlpool Corporation brand. And there's no recall on record for the KitchenAid Artisan at the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (checked September 2026). And KitchenAid's recalls on record cover kettles, coffeemakers, toasters, food processors, cooktops and microwave hoods, and none of them cover a stand mixer.
What goes with the KitchenAid Artisan
The KitchenAid Artisan in Empire Red is the mixer our guide suggests for a kitchen with a red Del Mar fridge. So if the fridge is the Del Mar retro fridge in Cardiff Red, the mixer can carry the same red across the room.
KitchenAid makes its kettle and its two-slice toaster in Empire Red too. That way the mixer, the kettle and the toaster can share one red on the counter, and the KitchenAid kettle article covers the kettle.

Before you buy the KitchenAid Artisan
- Size: if you bake for one or two people, look at the KitchenAid Artisan Mini first.
- Space: measure under your kitchen cabinets, because the Artisan's head tilts back.
- Weight: plan a spot on the kitchen counter, because owners find the Artisan heavy to move.
- Color: if you're matching a KitchenAid kettle or toaster, choose Empire Red for all three appliances.
