The KitchenAid kettle in Pistachio: a small stainless kettle that doesn't look like an office kettle
KitchenAid's 1.25-liter kettle comes in Pistachio, Empire Red and black, with a stainless steel body and a one-year full warranty from KitchenAid. It's sold on Amazon, in the lowest price band of the kettles we list.

A kettle sits out on the counter all day, so a kettle is among the few appliances you see every time you walk into the kitchen. And a plain white or black kettle can look like the kettle in the office break room. But KitchenAid's 1.25-liter kettle in Pistachio, a soft pale green, looks like it was chosen for the kitchen it sits in.
The KitchenAid kettle is also small. It's 7 inches wide and 10.4 inches tall, so it suits a counter with little room to spare, or a kitchen for one or two people.
You'd like a small kettle in a soft color for one or two people, or a red kettle to sit beside a KitchenAid toaster or stand mixer in Empire Red.
You want to set the water temperature for green tea or pour-over coffee. Owners describe the KitchenAid kettle as a kettle that boils the water and switches itself off.
One full year from KitchenAid.
Amazon, in all three colors.

What the KitchenAid kettle does
The KitchenAid kettle holds 1.25 liters, about 42 ounces, which is enough for a few mugs at a time. And the body is stainless steel under the colored paint, so the inside is steel too. Then the kettle lifts off a separate base, so you can carry it to the sink or the table without the cord.
Owners describe the KitchenAid kettle as simple to use. It heats the water quickly and switches itself off, and one owner mentions a marker inside that shows how high to fill it.
The KitchenAid kettle is 7 inches wide, 10.4 inches tall and 8.9 inches deep. So it takes up little of the counter, which matters most in a small kitchen.
What the KitchenAid kettle doesn't do
The KitchenAid kettle isn't a kettle for a big pot of tea. Because it holds 1.25 liters, a household that fills a large teapot or boils water for cooking may want a bigger kettle, such as Smeg's, which holds 1.7 liters.
As owners describe it, the KitchenAid kettle boils the water and switches off. So for green tea or pour-over coffee, which want water below boiling, the Fellow Stagg EKG Pro sets the temperature to the degree.
The KitchenAid kettle's strainer in the spout is plastic, even though the body is stainless steel. And its handle doesn't fold out of the way, so one owner finds it easy to spill water when filling the kettle at the sink.
The KitchenAid kettle's paint can chip with years of use. Because the color is painted onto the steel, one owner's kettle was chipped all over after five years.
What owners say about the KitchenAid kettle
On Amazon, the KitchenAid kettle scores 4.5 out of 5 from 5,383 ratings, across the colors we link (September 2026). Owners write most about how it looks, how quickly it boils and how long it lasts.
"This is a great kettle that I purchased to match other Kitchenaid products on my counters. It heats water quickly and to a good boil. Very straightforward and easy to use with no bells and whistles."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, December 2025, in Empire Red
"Update: It has now been 5 years. I use it two or three times daily, and the inside still looks new."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, November 2024, in Pistachio
But the complaints about the KitchenAid kettle are worth reading too, and they're about the handle, the strainer and how long the kettle lasts.
"The only negative is the handle doesn’t move out of the way for filling at the sink so it’s easy to spill water around the opening if you’re not careful."
The same Empire Red owner, December 2025
"As many have stated, one annoying factor is that they have chosen to use a plastic strainer. Somewhat defeating the purpose of switching to a metal kettle."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, July 2019, in black
"It just started leaking out of the bottom, and I need to replace it since it's leaking from what is connected to the electricity."
The same Pistachio owner, after five years
So the Pistachio owner's kettle lasted five years of daily use before it leaked, which is four years past KitchenAid's one-year warranty. And another Pistachio owner's kettle stopped working after about 30 months.
The KitchenAid kettle's colors, and where to buy each color
The KitchenAid kettle comes in Pistachio, Empire Red and black, and all three colors are sold on Amazon. So the delivery and the returns follow the Amazon seller's terms, while the warranty is KitchenAid's, whichever color you choose.

The KitchenAid kettle sits in the lowest price band of the kettles we list, the band marked with a single dollar sign. And Smeg's kettle sits one band above it, so the KitchenAid kettle is a colored kettle for less than the Smeg.
Who makes the KitchenAid kettle
KitchenAid is a Whirlpool Corporation brand. And the warranty is one full year from the day you buy the kettle, and in that year KitchenAid pays for a replacement, or for the parts and labor at an authorized service center.
KitchenAid's kettles have had a recall, and you should know which kettle it covered. That 2018 recall at the US Consumer Product Safety Commission was for KitchenAid's larger 1.7-liter kettle, the KEK1722, because its handle could come loose, a burn hazard. But the 1.25-liter KEK1222 here is a different kettle, and there's no recall on record for it (checked September 2026).
The KitchenAid toaster that matches the kettle
KitchenAid makes its manual-lift toaster in Empire Red and black, with a metal body and a five-year limited warranty. So a red kettle and a red toaster can sit side by side, in the same red as KitchenAid's stand mixer. But Pistachio has no toaster to match.

And the toaster and kettle guide shows every matching pair we list, color by color.
Before you buy the KitchenAid kettle
- Size: the kettle holds 1.25 liters, so it suits a few mugs at a time rather than a big teapot.
- Temperature: owners describe a kettle that boils and switches off, so for green tea or pour-over, choose a kettle with temperature settings.
- Color: if you're matching a toaster, choose Empire Red or black, because Pistachio has no toaster to match.
- Care: empty the kettle after each use, because one owner says that keeps buildup down inside.
