Dinnerware
Fiesta dinnerware: American color on the table since 1936, with a new Fiesta color every year
Fiesta dinnerware is still made in Newell, West Virginia, by the company that first made it in 1936. And Fiesta place settings sit in our lowest price band, so many owners set a different Fiesta color at every seat.

Fiesta dinnerware has been on American tables for 90 years, and it's still made in West Virginia. That first Fiesta came out in 1936, during the Great Depression, and Fiesta says its colors were an answer to the gloom of those years. Then Fiesta kept adding colors, 56 colors in all by Fiesta's count, and Fiesta still brings out a new color every year.
Many Fiesta owners don't choose a single Fiesta color at all. Because Fiesta makes its colors to be mixed and matched, those owners set a different color at each place and add new colors as Fiesta brings them out.
You'd like everyday dishes in strong color, made in America, that can go in the dishwasher, the microwave and the oven, and you like the idea of mixing colors.
You'd like every Fiesta plate in one color to be exactly the same shade. Owners have found the shade can vary a little from piece to piece.
Five years against chipping in normal use, from Fiesta, with your receipt. Chips from drops or knocks aren't covered.

What a Fiesta place setting includes
A Fiesta 4-piece place setting is one dinner plate, one salad plate, one bowl and one mug, enough to set one place at the table. That's a 10½-inch dinner plate and a 7¼-inch salad plate in Fiesta's Classic Rim set. Then the cereal bowl is 6⅞ inches across and holds 19 ounces, and the mug holds 10¼ ounces, with what Fiesta calls a vintage ring handle.
Fiesta place settings are made from what Fiesta calls fully vitrified, lead-safe china, with the color in the glaze. So the pieces can go in the dishwasher, the microwave and the oven. And the plates and bowls stack, which matters when four or five colors share one cupboard.
Fiesta dinnerware sits in the lowest of our four price bands. So you can buy a place setting in several colors without spending much, and that's what makes mixing the colors easy to try.
What Fiesta dinnerware doesn't do
Fiesta colors aren't always identical from one piece to the next. One owner found that the dishes in one pink came in lighter and darker shades, and another found the rings molded into the pieces faint. So Fiesta suits a table where the colors are mixed anyway, and it suits less well a table where every plate must match exactly.
The Fiesta chip warranty is narrower than it sounds too. That warranty covers chipping in normal use for five years, but it doesn't cover chips from a drop or from knocking a plate against something, and Fiesta decides which is which. Even so, many owners write that their Fiesta dishes have gone years without a chip.
The Fiesta mug's ring handle can be small. One owner found only one finger fit through the handle of a Paprika mug, while the same owner's Turquoise and Cobalt mugs took two or three fingers. So look at the mug's handle when your setting arrives.
What owners say about Fiesta dinnerware
On Amazon, the Fiesta place setting scores 4.7 out of 5 from 748 ratings in Scarlet, 4.9 out of 5 from 136 ratings in Meadow, and 4.6 out of 5 from 266 ratings on the listing for Turquoise, Sunflower and Cobalt (September 2026). And many owners write about the colors first and the toughness second.
"I have a very large set of Fiestaware dishes. I’ve had them for years and years and not one has ever chipped. They are rainbow colors and make me very happy."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, April 2025, in Lapis
"Who doesn't like Fiesta ware. It is beautiful. Always colorful and can go in the dishwasher."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, December 2023, in Scarlet
"I like the color, and the durability."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, February 2020, in Meadow
But the complaints about Fiesta dinnerware are worth reading too, and most are about shade, shipping and finish.
"All dishes are not the same shade of pink! Some are lighter than others."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, April 2026, in Peony
"My order received with broken dish. was unable to return through amazon."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, January 2021, in Meadow
"I was disappointed with the quality. The circles were faint, as if the mold was dull. However, the color ,sky blue, is lovely."
A Fiesta owner, Fiesta store review, 2024
The owner whose dish arrived broken couldn't return it through Amazon and bought a replacement from Fiesta's own store, at the owner's own cost. So open the Fiesta box when it arrives and check every piece while the return window is still open.
Fiesta's colors, and where to buy each color
We link five Fiesta colors, and all five colors are sold on Amazon. Those five Fiesta colors are Scarlet, a strong red, Turquoise and Cobalt, the blues, and Meadow and Sunflower, a green and a yellow. And owners who mix the colors often buy one setting in each color, as one owner did with eight settings in eight colors.
And Fiesta retires colors over time: Cobalt was retired in 2021, and Sunflower is retired too, so those two Fiesta colors are on Amazon only while the sellers' stock lasts.
Amazon's returns follow the seller on each listing. And the Turquoise, Sunflower and Cobalt listings are named differently from the Classic Rim listings for Scarlet and Meadow, so check the four pieces named on the listing before you order.
Who makes Fiesta dinnerware
Fiesta is made by The Fiesta Tableware Company in Newell, West Virginia, on the Ohio River. That company began in the 1870s as the Homer Laughlin pottery in East Liverpool, Ohio, and moved across the river to Newell in the early 1900s. Its design director, Frederick Hurten Rhead, designed Fiesta, which came out in 1936. Then in 2020 Steelite International bought the company and renamed it The Fiesta Tableware Company, and it still makes Fiesta in Newell.
Fiesta has no recall on record for its dinnerware at the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (checked September 2026). But the lead some people have heard about concerns old Fiesta glazes from before the 1970s, not the pieces Fiesta makes today, which Fiesta describes as lead-safe.
Fiesta plates beside a colorful pot
A red pot and red plates sit well together, because reds from different makers match better than blues do. So Scarlet plates go well with a cherry red Dutch oven, and the Staub cocotte comes in a cherry red that one owner describes as neither orange nor burgundy.

And the colorful cookware guide covers the pots and pans that go with a colorful table.
